Some Liverpool fans on Twitter believe they’ve spotted a clue that Jurgen Klopp is set to award Kaide Gordon with a competitive debut.

Liverpool kick off their EFL Cup campaign on Tuesday with a trip to Norwich City.

Klopp is likely to include a number of fringe players in the first XI and Athletic journalist James Pearce has already claimed that Nat Phillips will earn a rare starting berth.

But 16-year-old Gordon may well be joining him.

That’s because there was no sign of the former Derby County gem in Liverpool’s Under-23 squad today for a clash with Leeds.

And some fans of the Anfield club believe that his absence is linked to a promotion to senior duties on Tuesday.

Here’s what the Liverpool supporters are saying:

Klopp has a raft of young and exciting starlets coming through, with Harvey Elliott being the most prominent – his injury notwithstanding.

But Gordon is right up there as being one of Liverpool’s most promising teens and it’ll be fascinating to see if he plays against the Canaries.

Klopp’s philosophy, as proven with Elliott, is that if you’re good enough then you’re old enough.

And time will tell whether Gordon is old enough to be making his senior debut for the Reds.
