Liverpool will reportedly play two pre-season matches in Southeast Asia against Premier League rivals Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

According to the Athletic, the Reds are in talks to play two lucrative matches in the Thailand capital of Bangkok as well as in Singapore, with Liverpool having huge fanbases in both countries.

The Premier League giants haven’t visited Asia since 2017, with Liverpool’s pre-season over the past two years being spent in Europe due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As per the report, Jurgen Klopp does plan to embark on a European training camp in either France or Austria following these two pre-season friendlies in Asia, with Liverpool set to fly out in mid-July.

This summer is expected to be a big one for Liverpool, with the futures of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah yet to be decided, there could be some unexpected big moves in the market.

Klopp will also be using pre-season as a way to theorise how Liverpool can challenge Manchester City next campaign, with Pep Guardiola’s side on track to reclaim the Premier League title in May.

Indeed, whilst Liverpool’s pre-season trip to Southeast Asia appears to be a lucrative financial opportunity, fans in this part of the world are losing it that the Reds will be returning for the first time in five years.
