Adam Lallana was handed just his third Premier League start of the campaign by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as the Reds failed to beat West Ham United at the London Stadium – and Liverpool fans want the playmaker sold.

Lallana, 30, has been struggling with niggling injuries throughout the campaign, including a problem with his groin. Klopp has decided against giving the 34-time England international much game time, with others preferred.

It has seen the former Southampton star seriously lacking in match sharpness, with first-team football needed to get over his injury. It was his first league start since October.

Though Lallana was involved in the build up to Liverpool’s opener – his pass found James Milner who crossed to Sadio Mane – the midfielder was somewhat ineffective. Looking tired, he was withdrawn after 69 minutes.

Liverpool failed to find a way past West Ham after Michail Antonio cancelled out Mane’s opener, and the 1-1 draw sees Liverpool now only three points above Manchester City and five above Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool fans were not impressed by their team’s display and many decided to criticise Lallana. The general consensus is that supporters are fed up with the twinkle-toed star, and want to see him sold in the summer.

Lallana has less than 18 months remaining on his current contract at Anfield, where he is supposedly earning £65,000 a week (Spotrac) following his £25million move (BBC Sport) from Southampton in 2014.
