Some Liverpool fans on Twitter have expressed an interest in signing a number of newly-relegated stars, including Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The French midfielder was relegated from the Premier League as Watford lost 3-2 away to Arsenal this afternoon.

Being one of their high-profile players, it’s difficult to see the 27-year-old playing in the Championship next term.

Interestingly, Liverpool reportedly wanted to bring Doucoure to Anfield in 2018.

When the speculation was rife, the player even admitted to Canal Plus in France that it was a ‘dream’ of his to join the Reds, though a move to Merseyside never materialised.

But some Liverpool supporters on Twitter are hoping it does now and, with the Hornets relegated, he’d be available for drastically less than his £50 million valuation two years ago.

Here’s what they’re saying on social media:

Do they need him? Jurgen Klopp might not say no, but at best he’d be a squad player.

This is a Premier League-winning team and there’s just no way he’d be playing ahead of somebody like Fabinho on a regular basis.

It might still be his dream, but he probably prefers regular football and if that’s the case, a move to Liverpool isn’t the smart move, especially entering the prime of his career.
