Liverpool have recently been linked with a potential move for Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina.
Liverpool fans believe that they will soon be able to pick up reported target Mario Lemina on the cheap after Southampton suffered another defeat that leaves them in the jaws of the relegation zone in the Premier League.
The Saints find themselves one place and one point above the bottom three in the top flight after they were thrashed 3-0 against fellow strugglers Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
The defeat means that Southampton have still won only one game in the top flight since the end of November, and there are genuine concerns amongst the Saints fans that they will be playing Championship football next term.
For Liverpool, relegation for Mauricio Pellegrino’s side would potentially open the door for the Reds to swoop in for one of their reported targets for a decent price. French newspaper L’Equipe reported at the start of the month that Liverpool were keen on Lemina.
His latest performance may not have instilled much confidence however. Like many of his teammates, the midfielder was extremely poor and taken off at the break as the Saints desperately tried to get themselves back in the game.
But despite that display, it appears that several fans are keen to see Jurgen Klopp attempt to bring the former Juventus man to Anfield at the end of the season if the Saints do go down.
