Mohamed Salah has spoken out against Arne Slot, and the response from fans has been swift.
As if Liverpool did not have enough to deal with already, there is now a growing rift between one of their all-time greats and the current manager.
Whether anyone wanted it or not, that is exactly where things stand. Salah’s remarks about Slot suggest something big could be on the horizon.
It would not be surprising if this leads to Salah leaving or even the Dutchman losing his job – possibly both. Either way, it is far from ideal.
Liverpool fans have not held back online, and while opinions will keep coming in, there is a clear leaning towards one side over the other.
Most Liverpool fans appear to be backing Mohamed Salah over Arne Slot

It is a difficult situation for fans, even if Salah’s decision to publicly criticise Slot was not the best move. He clearly feels strongly that something needs to change, and there may be plenty of supporters who agree with him.
The reaction from supporters has shown that most are standing with the Egyptian star. It is early days, but it does look as though the manager could be losing control of the situation.
One fan posted: “We stand with Mohammed Salah. Treated unfairly these last few weeks, the fact he thinks someone doesn’t want him at the club is truly concerning. By the looks of it, the players have lost full faith in the management team.”
A second one wrote: “I stand by Mohamed Salah over Arne Slot,” while another fan simply put: “Salah then, Salah now, Salah forever.”
A fourth comment backed this up: “I’ll sacrifice the manager before I ever sacrifice Mo Salah, not arsed what anyone else thinks.”
But not everyone is taking Salah’s side of things. One supporter wrote: “He’s self-centred, that’s what he is. Competition is part of football. Nobody has a divine right to start.”
A sixth added: “Pathetic! Since when is a player bigger than the club?” while another commented: “It’s Liverpool FC not Mo Salah FC.”
Even so, another supporter summed up what many others seem to think right now: “If it’s Mo vs Arne, I’m siding with Mo every day of the week and twice on Sunday.”
A choice must be made: Mohamed Salah or Arne Slot
It is difficult to imagine both coming back from this, with the club’s next move feeling like it could decide which one remains at Anfield.
Salah, still under contract for another year and a half, is a club legend. And despite being 33 now, there will be plenty who feel the right call is to keep him and find new leadership instead.
But keeping faith in the manager could also be seen as the better path forward. Building around Slot may be what FSG sees as necessary for long-term success.
Regardless of which direction Liverpool chooses, it will not satisfy everyone. This is one of those moments where there is not an easy answer.
