Liverpool defender was picked ahead of Alberto Moreno. How did he do?
In his third season at Liverpool, Alberto Moreno is yet to convince anybody that he should be the club’s long-term left-back.
The club signed Andrew Robertson in the summer from Hull City, and he is yet to really stake his claim either.
Last night he was recalled to the side as Jurgen Klopp sought to rotate, handing the Scottish international a start against West Bromwich Albion.
He helped the Reds keep a clean sheet in a very disappointing draw at home to the Baggies, but he offered nothing going forward.
Robertson touched the ball 104 times, but played it safe, attempting only one cross – which failed to find it’s target.
He had one shot at goal, which failed to test the goalkeeper.
Robertson did not let himself down, as it was a poor performance from the whole team, but if he is to really convince supporters and his manager that he should be the Reds’ first choice, he needs to start contributing more to the attack in tight games like last night.
