Marc Guehi has been a long-standing target for Liverpool, and according to Fabrizio Romano, that interest has not faded even as Tottenham have started looking at the Crystal Palace defender.
With Liverpool’s move for Guehi breaking down late in the window, there has naturally been some uncertainty around whether they will return for him or shift their focus elsewhere.
What is clear is that the British defender is on his way out of Crystal Palace this summer. What remains up in the air is which shirt he will wear next season.
However, this is not just an English affair. Teams from outside the Premier League are also keeping tabs on his situation.
Bayern Munich have already opened discussions with Guehi’s representatives through Max Eberl, and now Romano has outlined which other clubs are starting to show concrete interest.
Fabrizio Romano believes Marc Guehi will be one of the standout names in 2026

It is rare to see a player of Guehi’s calibre available on the open market, especially as a free agent.
The centre-back has years of Premier League experience under his belt and is still only 25.
He would also address Liverpool’s issue with non-homegrown players and could be seen as an upgrade on Ibrahima Konate.
There is also the long-term view, with Guehi potentially stepping into Virgil van Dijk’s role when the time comes.
Meanwhile, transfer expert Romano has now provided an update on the current situation around the defender, speaking on the Here We Go Podcast.
“The English clubs keep moving around Marc Guehi, with Liverpool still there after what happened on deadline day. Liverpool remain in the list of clubs interested in the player.
“There is also interest from more clubs, including Tottenham, Man City, including the Spanish giants for sure.
“And also Bayern, Bayern also had contacts with people close to the player. So it’s a big race for Marc Guehi. What I can guarantee is that the player is starting to explore these possibilities,” the journalist revealed.
Romano explained: “He’s listening to proposals, listening to contract ideas, but also projects. It’s also about the technical project. Marc Guehi has been a big leader for Crystal Palace, won titles with Crystal Palace in recent months.
“But obviously, the next target is going to be in the race to win important competitions, like maybe the Premier League or domestic titles, and then obviously, the Champions League.
“So this will be the vision. Let’s see what’s going to happen, but Marc Guehi is going to be one of the big names for 2026.”
Marc Guehi might have been exactly what Liverpool needed this season

One of the consistent issues throughout Liverpool’s season has been the poor form shown by their defenders.
While Konate has started to find his feet again, there have still been occasions where his mistakes have cost Liverpool valuable points.
One of those errors even resulted in Alisson picking up an injury.
If Liverpool had managed to bring in Guehi on deadline day, he could have stepped in for Konate, added stability at the back, and given Van Dijk some much-needed rest over a long campaign.
But that deal did not materialise, and Arne Slot is now feeling the effects of that, especially with Giovanni Leoni sidelined for the rest of the season.
