Liverpool are close to securing the signing of Fulham playmaker Fabio Carvalho – and he will immediately head into first-team contention.
Liverpool have been chasing Carvalho for some time and it looks like they have finally secured their man ahead of the summer window.
A deadline day deal to bring Carvalho to Anfield fell through in January with Liverpool ultimately running out of time to finalise a move.
The Reds unsurprisingly retained their interest though and are ‘on the brink’ of finalising a deal to sign Carvalho after all according to the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool will be paying £5million rising to over £7.5million for Carvalho. There is also a 20% sell-on clause in the deal and personal terms are already sorted.
An interesting note is that Carvalho is likely to head straight into Jurgen Klopp’s senior squad at Liverpool.
Some young talents like Kaide Gordon and Harvey Elliott have gone into the Under-23’s before gradually being introduced around the first team.
That isn’t the plan for Carvalho though, with Liverpool seemingly ready to put him into senior reckoning immediately.
Carvalho’s situation is a little different to those of Gordon and Elliott given his exposure to first-team action in the Championship.

Carvalho may only be 19 but he already has 37 first-team appearances to his name for Fulham, bagging nine goals and seven assists.
The Portuguese playmaker – who could still play for England – still faces a long path to a starting role for Liverpool, but he will at least be in the mix.
That’s massively exciting for Liverpool, who appear to have landed one of the top young talents outside of the Premier League.
Hailed as ‘outstanding’ by Clinton Morrison, Carvalho is being backed for a huge future – and after a scare earlier this year, it looks like Liverpool have ensured that future is at Anfield.
