Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in signing Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu on a free in the summer transfer window, according to 90min.
Liverpool and Newcastle United linked with Caglar Soyuncu
The report has claimed that Liverpool and Newcastle are among the clubs who have expressed an interest in signing Soyuncu in the summer of 2023.
The 26-year-old Turkey international defender is out of contract at former Premier League champions Leicester City at the end of the season.
90min have reported that although Liverpool and Newcastle expressed interest in Soyuncu, they failed to make the right offers.
The centre-back – who is “a very, very quick, very assured defender” by former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand in Football.London in June 2021 – has now reportedly agreed terms with La Liga club Atletico and will make the move to Madrid at the end of the season.

Strange move from Liverpool
In our view, it is strange that Liverpool want(ed) to sign Caglar Soyuncu even on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
Yes, the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners could do with bringing in one or two new centre-backs, but they need to find someone better than Soyuncu.
The 26-year-old has not been at his best for a while.
We do not think that Soyuncu is the kind of defender who would make Liverpool good enough to get back to the level they once were.
