Liverpool are interested in rivalling Everton for the signing of Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin next summer.
That’s according to a report from Calciomercato, who claim that Saint-Maximin will have big interest in his signature next year.
Chelsea are thought to be keen, whilst Everton and Liverpool are both interested in luring Saint-Maximin to Merseyside.
Paul Merson branded Saint-Maximin ‘unplayable’ just a matter of days ago, and few could blame him for considering a move.
Newcastle aren’t going to challenge the European places any time soon, and if Liverpool do want Saint-Maximin, he would surely be tempted.
Would Saint-Maximin to Liverpool make sense?
The first thing to say is that Calciomercato isn’t exactly a tier one source when it comes to transfers that don’t involve Serie A clubs.
Maybe they do have information on Saint-Maximin and a possible transfer, but it’s not strong enough to feel confident about right now.

Liverpool do need other attacking options to arrive in 2022, with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all nearing their 30’s.
With Kaide Gordon and Harvey Elliott coming through, do Liverpool need another out-and-out winger?
Saint-Maximin has added to his game by playing centrally in Callum Wilson’s absence, but he does’t quite the false nine role that Jurgen Klopp utilises.
With speed and trickery, you can understand why Liverpool may want Saint-Maximin, but he may need to keep growing as a striker first.
