Liverpool and Everton both want Mohammed Kudus and Ajax are being backed to rake in huge money for the Ghanaian star.

The World Cup offers a great platform for players to make names for themselves and possibly earn big transfers.

PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo looks like a prime example having dazzled for the Netherlands so far.

Gakpo isn’t the only Eredivisie talent impressing in Qatar though with Ajax ace Mohammed Kudus catching the eye.

Liverpool and Everton both want Mohammed Kudus

Ajax have already seen Kudus shine this season with 10 goals and two assists in 21 games across all competitions.

They knew that they would be in line for a major pay day if Kudus excelled for Ghana at the World Cup.

Kudus showed his quality against South Korea on Monday, scoring twice in a 3-2 win.

Kudus glanced a header in for his first and Ghana’s second, before scoring the winner with a fine left-footed finish.

Proving that he can play in from the right flank having already played as a midfielder, playmaker and makeshift striker, Kudus is showing that he can do it all in the final third.

Premier League clubs will be looking very closely and Merseyside could end up being his destination.

Sports World Ghana reported last week that Liverpool are scouting Kudus at the World Cup having watched him score against them in the Champions League.

Then there is Everton, who pushed to sign Kudus over the summer but saw their £15million bid rejected because Ajax felt they could earn more down the line.

That now looks like an inspired decision.

Kudus will surely cost at least twice that figure now and his future has been tackled in the Netherlands.

De Telegraaf reporter Mike Verweij has stated on the Kick-Off podcast that Kudus was ‘angry’ that Ajax wouldn’t let him join Everton, as quoted by Ajax Showtime.

The Amsterdam giants would have only discussed a move for much more than Everton were offering – and Verweij now thinks it’s ‘nice’ that Liverpool are involved.

Verweij feels that Ajax may take a ‘huge bag of money’ for Kudus if Everton and Liverpool bid against each other, seemingly hoping for a bidding war.

“Everton was very specific and he was also angry that Ajax did not want to talk about it,” said Verweij. “Then you had to think of a transfer fee of thirty, forty million. Now Liverpool has entered the market, several English media report. If English clubs start bidding against each other, that’s nice.”

“If two clubs from one city start bidding against each other, it could just be that Gerry Hamstra and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar hold out their hands and another huge bag of money falls in,” he added.
