Not many players end up signing for both Everton and Liverpool in their careers, but goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has done exactly that.
There are cases like Abel Xavier, Nick Barmby and Steve McMahon, as well as the late Gary Ablett.
Lonergan joined them this summer by signing for Everton, a year after leaving Liverpool.
The 38-year-old joined Liverpool on trial in 2019, and eventually signed as cover for Adrian San Miguel and Caoimhin Kelleher.
The former Preston North End ace never actually played as senior game for Liverpool, but still left Anfield with UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup medals.
After stints at Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion, Lonergan joined Everton in August, returning to Merseyside.
Klopp comments on Lonergan to Everton
With Liverpool facing Lonergan’s hometown club Preston this week, Reds boss Klopp has commented on his move to Goodison Park.

Speaking to Preston’s official YouTube channel, Klopp talked about how Lonergan was a legend at Preston and Liverpool loved him.
Yet now he is with Everton, Klopp joked that Lonergan isn’t a legend around Liverpool anymore, claiming his move means he only ‘used to be’ a legend.
“We had, from my point of view, a 100% Preston North End legend here with Andy Lonergan,” said Klopp. “He won with us pretty much everything, we loved him! But now I think he is at Everton… so he was a legend, he used to be a legend,” he added.
Lonergan may not even play for Everton, just like at Liverpool, but it’s clear that Klopp thinks highly of the veteran goalkeeper.
