Liverpool take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League this evening, and midfielder Elijah Dixon-Bonner has been spotted with the squad.

The Reds return to Madrid tonight, taking on Atletico for the first since their 2020 Champions League exit at the hands of Diego Simeone’s men.

Jurgen Klopp will be desperate for revenge. His Liverpool side lost 1-0 in Madrid before falling to a 3-2 home defeat in the second leg.

Liverpool must hope for better tonight, and Klopp has seemingly called youngster Dixon-Bonner into the squad.

Photos have emerged of Dixon-Bonner in Madrid with the Liverpool team. The Liverpool Echo add that Dixon-Bonner has been added to the Liverpool Champions League squad too ahead of tonight’s game.

Dixon-Bonner could therefore be in tonight’s squad, giving Klopp more options.

Who is Liverpool talent Elijah Dixon-Bonner?

Dixon-Bonner, 20, was born in London and actually came through the Arsenal ranks.

In 2015, Dixon-Bonner traded North London for Merseyside, joining Liverpool.

A former England Under-16 captain, Dixon-Bonner has made just one first-team appearance for Liverpool. That came in an FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town in 2020.

This past summer, Dixon-Bonner featured on trial for League One side Portsmouth, but didn’t sign for Pompey.

Dixon-Bonner has played five times in Premier League 2 this season, featuring as a midfielder or winger.

Dixon-Bonner may only be on the bench tonight, but this will be a great experience for the Liverpool youngster regardless.
