Liverpool’s deal to sign Andrew Robertson from Hull and sell Kevin Stewart to them is superb business.

It this all materialises it will represent a superb piece of business for the Merseyside outfit as although the two transfers are considered entirely separate, they are effectively paying £2m to sign a new full-back for the first team.
And what are they losing in Stewart? Well once considered one of the brightest young talents at Anfield, the 23-year-old – the same age as Robertson – has managed just 20 first team appearances for the club, 15 of which came last season.
Jurgen Klopp clearly didn’t see enough in the midfielder to suggest he would be featuring regularly any time soon and yet with just 42 senior matches to his name – the majority of which coming in Leagues One and Two while out on loan – Stewart has essentially been used as a makeweight in a deal for Robertson.
The Scotland international, in contrast, has already played 115 times for the Tigers since a 2014 switch from Dundee United, with 57 Premier League games to his name and 15 caps for his country.
