Liverpool are joining the race to sign Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence amid interest from Premier League rivals like Arsenal and Tottenham.
That’s according to The Northern Echo, who claim that Liverpool are looking towards Spence for a possible summer move.
Middlesbrough are believed to be seeking a fee of around £15million for Spence, seemingly sensing a perfect chance to cash in.
Boro allowed Spence to leave on loan to Nottingham Forest in August, seemingly having no plans for him this season.
Spence has been an absolute star at Forest, particularly shining in FA Cup ties against Arsenal and Leicester City.
Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli has even picked Spence out as his toughest-ever opponent after quite the battle in January.
Former Boro boss Neil Warnock has compared Spence to Aaron Wan-Bissaka and even Trent Alexander-Arnold, so maybe Liverpool’s interest shouldn’t be a huge shock.
Quick and dynamic going forward, Spence has particularly impressed as a wing back but could thrive in Liverpool’s system where full backs maraud forward.
The report notes that Arsenal are expected to push for Spence’s signature whilst Tottenham Hotspur are also keen.

Spence is a man in demand this summer, but Liverpool now hope to crash the party and bring him to Anfield.
Neco Williams is out on loan at Fulham and could yet be sold as he seeks first-team playing time away from Liverpool.
If Williams moves on, Liverpool may need to bring in another right back and it looks like Spence is their choice.
Hailing from London, a return to the capital may well appeal to Spence with Arsenal and Tottenham keen, but Liverpool have enormous pulling power under Jurgen Klopp and can pose a real threat.
