Liverpool wanted Denis Zakaria before he joined Chelsea but he is already being axed by the Blues after just weeks at the club.
The Reds were in the market for a new midfielder before the summer transfer deadline.
With injuries piling up, Liverpool had to do what they hate; get involved in the last-minute trolley dash.
Liverpool called up Juventus and secured a loan deal for Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo in the hope of bolstering their midfield.
Sadly, Arthur is now out until 2023 having picked up an injury having already caught the Liverpool injury curse.

Liverpool wanted Denis Zakaria
Arthur wasn’t the only Juventus midfielder Liverpool targeted though.
Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Liverpool asked about signing Denis Zakaria but no deal was done.
Arthur joined Liverpool instead and Zakaria ended up joining Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea on loan.
Zakaria did tell Blick in his native Switzerland that he heard Liverpool wanted him but was happy to join Chelsea.
Zakaria may now feel he has made a mistake though.
The 25-year-old hasn’t played a single game for Chelsea and hasn’t even been on the bench for a Premier League game.
Zakaria has been an unused substitute in four Champions League games with new boss Graham Potter seemingly not convinced.
90Min now report that Chelsea are already looking to terminate Zakaria’s loan deal and will allow him to move on in January.
Zakaria allegedly isn’t in Potter’s plans and they want to send him back to Juventus.
There are a couple of problems though.
Zakaria played for Juve earlier this season so if he plays even a minute for Chelsea, he won’t be able to join another club in January.
Additionally, Juventus don’t have to take Zakaria back so Chelsea are left hoping that boss Massimiliano Allegri is sacked and a new manager fancies the Swiss ace.
Allegri is certainly under huge pressure after a dismal start to the season, including a 2-0 defeat to Maccabi Haifa on Tuesday night.
Maybe Liverpool will keep tabs on Zakaria’s situation, but the midfielder is surely wishing he had moved to Anfield rather than Stamford Bridge.
