Posting on Instagram, Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has provided a positive injury update for the club’s fans.

The youngster is currently battling his way back from injury after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in the early parts of last season.

Before then he had firmly established himself as a first-team regular after a move from Charlton Athletic in the summer transfer window.

He started his return to training back in May and is clearly hoping to feature for the club in their first pre-season under manager Jurgen Klopp.

And now he has provided fans with a positive update via Instagram, telling them that he is getting closer to a return day by day.

It now remains to be seen what role that Gomez has to play for Liverpool should he get himself fully fit for next season.

The Reds’ defence is set to undergo something of an overhaul, with Klopp expected to change things up after that area of the team struggled again last season.

There are places up for grabs and Gomez will be hoping that he can find himself a regular spot under the German sooner rather than later.
