Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has praised Chelsea striker Timo Werner in The Times.
The Scotland international left-back was impressed with the performance of Werner during Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Brighton away from home in the Premier League on Monday evening.
The Germany international striker is set to start for the Blues in their Premier League game against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.
Ahead of the game, Robertson has praised the 24-year-old, and has said that he was impressed with his performance on Monday evening.
Robertson told The Times: “I watched the game and he looked really good, very quick. Without getting his goal, he brought a different dimension to Chelsea.”
Threat to Liverpool
Werner is one of the best attacking players in the world, and there is no surprise that Liverpool reportedly wanted to sign him from RB Leipzig before he moved to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The Times reported in February that the Reds and Chelsea wanted to sign him, with Sky Sports reporting in June of the Reds’ interest in the German, and the striker himself told Via Sport in February 2020 that he was flattered to be linked with Liverpool.
According to WhoScored, against Brighton, the striker took five shots of which one was on target, had a pass accuracy of 76.5%, took 34 touches, attempted two dribbles, and made one interception.
Werner’s pace will be a problem for Liverpool on Sunday, and it will be interesting to see how the Reds cope with the Chelsea star.
