Liverpool want Datro Fofana but Brighton and Hove Albion have now started talks to bring the Molde striker to the Premier League.

The Reds have been picking up quality young talent of late.

Calvin Ramsay and Fabio Carvalho both arrived over the summer, as did Ben Doak and Trent Kone-Doherty.

The hope is that all four can become first-team regulars in the coming years but Liverpool aren’t stopping their chase of young prospects.

Liverpool want Datro Fofana

Reports from Fratmat in the Ivory Coast earlier this month suggested that Liverpool are interested in Molde attacker Datro Fofana.

Fofana, 19, has helped fire Molde to the Eliteserien title and finished the league campaign with 15 goals in 22 games.

22 goals in 39 games across all competitions really put Fofana on the map and it looks like he will be Molde’s next big striker sale.

After all, Molde helped develop Erling Haaland in his early days and Fofana could end up in the Premier League too.

Yet if Liverpool want Fofana, they will have to move quickly to win the race for his signature.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Brighton and Hove Albion have now opened talks with Molde to try and secure Fofana.

Romano claims that ‘negotiations are ongoing’ but this is not an easy deal because so many clubs are interested.

Molde allegedly want more than €10million (£8.5million) for Fofana and Brighton seem ready to pounce.

The Seagulls have become a gold standard for recruitment in the Premier League and they regularly sign players from lesser-exploited markets.

Kaoru Mitoma, Moises Caicedo, Julio Enciso, Simon Adingra and Jakub Moder are great examples of that.

Fofana could be the next addition to Brighton’s impressive ranks and beating Liverpool to his signature would represent quite the coup for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
