Darwin Nunez has signed for Liverpool from Benfica and has received an exciting welcome from Reds star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool are looking set to lose attacker Sadio Mane this summer with the Senegal star angling for a move to Bayern Munich.
The Reds have wanted to land a replacement for Mane before allowing him to head to Germany.
Their top target has clearly been Nunez, making their move to sign the Benfica striker last week.
After days of speculation and rumours, Nunez has now finalised his move to Liverpool in a deal worth up to €100million (£85million).
Darwin Nunez has signed for Liverpool
Nunez has been presented as a Liverpool player this evening and has signed a six-year contract at Anfield.
The 22-year-old was still with Spanish second tier side Almeria two years ago but has now become one of the most expensive players in Premier League history.
Nunez racked up 34 goals and four assists in 41 games for Benfica last season, including two against Liverpool in the Champions League.
The Uruguayan now follows in the footsteps of compatriots Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates in playing for Liverpool.
This is a hugely exciting move for Liverpool and it seems that right back Alexander-Arnold shares the enthusiasm of fans.
Alexander-Arnold has taken to Twitter to react to Nunez’s move, firstly saying ‘welcome to Liverpool’.
Alexander-Arnold then asked ‘how may I assist you?’, no doubt looking forward to supplying chances for the striker next season and beyond.
Nunez has been a goalscoring sensation and having him feed on crosses from Alexander-Arnold could be a match made in heaven.
Alexander-Arnold seemingly can’t wait to aim his famed crosses at the Uruguayan and hopefully combine to devastating effect for the Reds.
