Liverpool want Darwin Nunez and have now lodged a huge €100million (£85million) bid to sign the Benfica striker this summer.
The Reds look set to lose Sadio Mane this summer with the Senegal international pushing for a move to German giants Bayern Munich.
That will leave the Reds with a major hole to fill in their attack even with Luis Diaz shining after his January arrival from Porto.
Diaz’s impact showed that there is huge talent over in Portugal and Liverpool could now strike again with a new raid, this time on Benfica.
Liverpool want Darwin Nunez
Liverpool have been linked with Benfica star Nunez for months now and new claims in Portugal are accelerating their interest.
Portuguese newspaper Record claim that Liverpool are ‘determined’ to sign Nunez this season.
Boss Jurgen Klopp is ‘crazy’ about Nunez and an offer of €100million – around £85million – has now been submitted.
This comes just after The Times suggested that Liverpool do like Nunez but won’t be held to ransom.
Liverpool seemingly have an upper limit on where they are willing to go with a bid for Nunez, but this alleged offer is huge money.
Nunez has been hailed by Virgil van Dijk, who even claimed that the Uruguayan is ‘very similar’ to Manchester City-bound Erling Haaland.

Nunez, 22, was simply ridiculous this past season as he smashed 34 goals and four assists in just 41 games for Benfica.
Quick, strong and technically very good, Nunez looks like becoming the complete forward and he even played on the left flank at times for Benfica last term.
That’s important as Liverpool will hope to replace the impact of Mane, who similarly plays both out wide and up front.
Many clubs around the world want Nunez and there is no doubting that this would be a huge coup if Liverpool can pull it off.
It is though hard to see Liverpool’s first offer for Nunez being £85million, as that would be a new club record.
We imagine Liverpool do love Nunez, especially after he scored in both legs of their Champions League clash with Benfica, but think they may start the bidding a little lower.
