Liverpool want Darwin Nunez this summer and Benfica now appears to have found a replacement in Watford striker Joao Pedro.
Liverpool’s season is over and the narrow margins have been magnified.
The Reds missed out on the Premier League title by just a point. They also reached the Champions League final and only lost to Real Madrid by a 1-0 scoreline.
Liverpool played every single game available to them this season and came so close to winning a quadruple.
The flip side is that Liverpool’s two trophies were both on penalties and could have easily gone against them, whilst in three cup finals this term they failed to score a single goal.
A great season, an outstanding team but still some room to improve may be the fairest assessment of Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool want Darwin Nunez
Liverpool now face losing Sadio Mane this summer and that may mean heading into the transfer market for a new striker.
Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha now report that Liverpool are going all out to sign Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
Klopp himself has hailed Nunez as a ‘top, top boy’ and the Uruguayan scored in both legs of Benfica’s Champions League knockout clash with Liverpool.
Nunez has racked up 32 goals in 39 games for Benfica this season and looks to have a huge future ahead of him at 22.

Liverpool now seem to be pushing and their hopes may be increased amid claims that Benfica have picked out a replacement.
90Min claim that Benfica want to sign Watford striker Joao Pedro to replace Nunez.
Watford have suffered relegation to the Championship and there is seemingly a belief at Benfica that they can tempt the Hornets into selling.
Joao Pedro may not fancy another Championship campaign either and heading to join a huge European club in Benfica – where numerous Brazilian players have excelled – may appeal.
That may leave Nunez able to depart Benfica this summer, and you can expect Liverpool to be right in the race for his signature.
