Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz could become a possibility for Liverpool this summer.
That is according to journalist Neil Jones, who was speaking to Empire of the Kop.
Jones has suggested that Douglas Luiz or his Villa team-mate Boubacar Kamara could become a target for Liverpool before the transfer window closes.
The Reds are currently in the market for a new midfielder after losing out on Moises Caicedo to rivals Chelsea.
Southampton star Romeo Lavia also looks to be heading to Stamford Bridge, so that is another option now off the table for Jurgen Klopp.
As per Sky Sports, the Belgian wants to join Chelsea despite interest from Liverpool.
Douglas Luiz would not be the worst alternative for Liverpool
If Liverpool do decide to make a swoop for Luiz, it would not be the worst move that they could make this transfer window.
He is a Brazil international with a lot of Premier League experience. Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has even described him as a “fantastic talent”.
All things considered, supporters of the Merseyside club would probably feel a little bit underwhelmed if Luiz was the man they ended up with after spending all of that time pursuing Caicedo and Lavia.

However, Liverpool need to move on now and sign someone who can help out their midfield. Following the departures of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and so many other players, it is not in the best state at present.
Under Klopp, the Reds have not really been a team to panic buy. They have patiently waited for their key targets and usually got them, take Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker, for example.
This time around, however, things may have to be a little different after watching Caicedo join Chelsea and seemingly losing out on Lavia to their rivals as well.
