It’s no secret that Liverpool could cut a lot of deadwood from the squad during the summer transfer window.

But one name who could potentially added to the list is Naby Keita.

According to Team Talk, Liverpool could look to offload the 2018 signing over the coming months.

The report adds that four other senior players – Joel Matip, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri – could also be shipped out.

If Liverpool do wind up selling Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain, they’re looking at a huge loss in terms of finances.

The Reds spent £52 million on signing Keita in 2018 [Echo] and £40 million on Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal a year earlier [The Guardian].

But really, neither have proven to be excellent signings and therefore recouping anywhere near their initial outlay could prove quite problematic.

Injury has definitely played a role in Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain struggling at Anfield but even when fit, which they are now, neither has been able to keep a spot in Jurgen Klopp’s first XI on a regular basis.

Between them, the pair have started only nine games across all competitions for Liverpool this season.
