There’s been an interesting development with regards to one apparent Liverpool target.

The Reds haven’t been heavily active in the transfer window since signing Cody Gakpo in a £37 million deal earlier in January.

But Milan Skriniar to Liverpool is a transfer that has been touted, too.

According to Inter Live, Jurgen Klopp is keen on the Slovakia international as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

And Liverpool just may be the mystery outfit who have bid for him under the radar.

On Friday, Foot Mercato in France reported that an unnamed Premier League side had gazumped Paris Saint-Germain with a ‘sensational’ offer for the Inter Milan defender.

And maybe, just maybe, it’s Klopp and co.

That’s because earlier in the day, Klopp admitted that Nat Phillips could be leaving Merseyside if an offer were to arrive for him.

And as HITC Sport wrote on the day, Liverpool wouldn’t sell Phillips without a replacement coming in, particularly with Van Dijk sidelined at the moment.

Skriniar to Anfield went quiet for a number of weeks.

But if the French outlet is right and a mystery English club really has trumped PSG with an offer for Skriniar, well there are signs which point to Merseyside, it has to be said.
