Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have made contact in regard to signing Enzo Fernandez, a player his Argentina international teammate and Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez rates highly, according to Record.

Liverpool make contact for Enzo Fernandez

The report in the Portuguese publication has claimed that Liverpool and Real Madrid have made contact for Fernandez, who is playing along with Martinez for Argentina at the 2022 Qatar Wold Cup.

Benfica do not want to sell the 21-year-old midfielder in the middle of the season and will not accept anything less than his release clause of €120 million (£103 million) in the January transfer window.

Could a transfer happen?

In our opinion, Liverpool are unlikely to sign Enzo Fernandez either in the January transfer window or next summer if Benfica insist on getting €120 million (£103 million).

Fernandez is only 21, and we do not see Liverpool spending over £100 million on a single player who has yet to really make a massive impact on world football.

After all, the Argentina international joined Benfica only in the summer of 2022.

However, there is every chance that Fernandez, who could end up winning the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina, will improve and get better in the coming yeas.

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez plays with Fernandez for Argentina, and said that he does what he wants after his performance and goal against Mexico.
