Harvey Elliott has already made a big impact for Liverpool since joining in the summer.

The 16-year-old made his first team debut against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup and could get the nod in the next round against Arsenal at the end of October.

In between he is continuing to feature in the Reds’ academy and he continues to impress.

He was part of the Liverpool under-18 team which won 3-2 against Wigan in the Premier League Cup on Sunday.

Just 24 hours earlier he had been on the bench in the Premier League for the first team.

Liverpool under-18 boss Neil Critchley spoke glowingly about Elliott’s performance.

He told the club’s official website: “Harvey showed his real ability in the first half I thought. He had some lovely moments, he has a lovely touch, he has receiving skills under pressure, he has awareness and his decision-making is so good for someone so young.

“What I love about him is just his appetite and his enthusiasm to play football. He was desperate to play in this game even though he was on the first team bench the day before. He loves playing the game and you can see that with the way he plays, he is infectious.

“We have been really impressed with him as a person as well as a footballer since he has been here and so have the first-team staff.”

Elliott will not be with the under-18s much, it is presumed. He will progress to the under-23s, and by the looks of it, the first team.

A first Premier League appearance for the teenager is likely this season.

The final fee for Elliott is still being negotiated between Liverpool and Fulham.

Whatever it ends up being, will probably look like a bargain.
