Mamadou Sakho has been a revelation since joining Crystal Palace on loan from Liverpool.

The France centre back was shipped out on loan to Selhurst Park by an exasperated Jurgen Klopp after being banished from the first team at Anfield.

And his towering performances have galvanised the Eagles with standout displays in wins over Chelsea and Arsenal pushing Palace ever closer to survival.

Sakho’s performances have led many to question why Liverpool did not keep him at the club.

And Palace boss Sam Allardyce has already admitted he is keen to get around a table with the defender as soon as their safety is secured to talk about a permanent move.

Other clubs will undoubtedly enter the equation too come the summer and Palace fans should not get their hopes up about signing Sakho.

That’s according to Liverpool under 23 coach Michael Beale, who was in charge of Sakho during his exile from the Reds first team before joining the South Londoners.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Beale said he does not expect Sakho to be at Palace – or indeed Liverpool – beyond this season despite the fact both clubs would benefit from having him in the side.

“It is a shame what happened at Liverpool (falling out with Klopp),” Beale told Sky Sports.

“Both parties have lost. Sakho is playing for a club that I think he is too good to play for.

“Everyone is looking for a left-footed centre half. If it is to be that he leaves Liverpool, he won’t be short of offers. He will likely move on.”

If Palace can end the season strongly it may well persuade Sakho to remain at Selhurst Park.

But some big clubs will likely want to bring in a player of Sakho’s ilk too so it remains to be seen where the Frenchman will end up.
