Liverpool are being heavily linked with Matheus Nunes but Chelsea are also keeping very close tabs on the Wolverhampton Wanderers ace.

That’s according to Chelsea reporter Si Phillips, who claims that the Blues are watching Nunes ahead of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool may have been favourites for Nunes but will now face a real battle with Graham Potter moving forward.

Chelsea are likely to revamp their midfield options this year with Potter clearly needing some more energy in midfield.

N’Golo Kante isn’t the force he one was and his contract expires this summer whilst Jorginho’s time at Chelsea could come to an end.

Bringing in new midfielders will be key for Chelsea, just as it is for Liverpool – and Nunes is emerging as a key target for both.

Matheus Nunes attracting major interest from Chelsea and Liverpool

Nunes has been a hot topic in recent days and weeks.

The Telegraph stunned many earlier this month by reporting that Nunes is expected to join Liverpool in the summer.

They suggested that Liverpool wanted to sign Nunes from Sporting over the summer and seemingly have an agreement with Wolves to land him at the end of the season.

That would see Wolves make a small profit on Nunes with the midfielder heading to Anfield in a move worth around £44million.

That’s a surprise agreement and one we haven’t really seen before but Liverpool can seemingly have real hope of a deal.

Chelsea are now a threat to Liverpool’s hopes but if there is an agreement in place, the Reds should remain confident of securing Nunes.

The clamour for his signature is a little surprising.

Nunes clearly has so much talent in his locker and can go past opponents for fun whilst offering real energy from box to box.

Yet were haven’t really seen Nunes string together a consistent run of strong performance for Wolves and fans were probably expecting a little more.

Liverpool and Chelsea must believe that they can get more out of Nunes moving forward, with Wolves now facing major interest in the Portugal international.
