Jamie O’Hara says it’s ‘unfair’ if Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia amid Liverpool interest.

The former Premier League midfielder says, both Chelsea and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, could do with the midfield duo, who he described as ’special’, as he told Sky Sports News (13/08/23).

Back in January, Moises Caicedo was pushing for a move to Arsenal, but he didn’t get his wish and now he could be about to head to the other side of London.

To no-one’s surprise, he will be yet another £100 million+ player, with Sky Sports reporting that this one would break the British record transfer.

As for Romeo Lavia, he is still in the Championship with Southampton, with Liverpool seeing a number of bids rejected for the 19-year-old, to the annoyance of Jamie Carragher.

Well, if Carragher was frustrated at how things were going with the Lavia deal, well, there is every chance that both of them land on Chelsea’s doorstep now, with O’Hara sharing his thoughts.

“Both of them need midfielders,” said O’Hara. “Chelsea are a bit bare at the moment. They have got Enzo Fernandez.

“Then there is Caicedo, you bring him into the football club, then he is going to be something special. I think his preference is Chelsea.

“But Liverpool have a new-look midfield as well. They both need reinforcements and they are both top players. Lavia and Caicedo are something special.

“I think if Chelsea get both of them, then it’s unfair. Liverpool have finally stumped up the cash. ‘We are going to give you £110m’, then Caicedo turns around and says ‘no, I am going Chelsea’. They never spend that money. It’s crazy the amount of money is being thrown about.”

Liverpool need to act quickly

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have been two outstanding purchases for Liverpool and they will work wonders under Klopp.

But they were supposed to compete with the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. Liverpool fans will rightfully argue that, with those two out of the door, they are two short in midfield.

Yet, with a few weeks until the window slams shut, they aren’t even close to getting one face in. This could end very badly and the blame lies with those in the boardroom.
