Gary Neville has said on Sky Sports that there is still a chance that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could catch Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table this season.
The former Manchester United defender believes that Liverpool and Manchester City’s result over the weekend give the Reds and Chelsea some hope.
Pep Guardiola’s City played out a 1-1 draw with Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
On Sunday, Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 3-1, and Chelsea got the better of Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The results mean that City are at the top of the Premier League table with 57 points from 23 matches.
Liverpool are second with 48 points from 22 games, while Chelsea are third with 47 points from 24 games.
Neville said on Sky Sports: “City, they are a machine, you don’t expect them to make a lot of mistakes, but they could. They could. And Liverpool and Chelsea have got to believe that.”
The Sky Sports pundit added: “It can happen, and Liverpool have got it in them, if they can keep that XI together, that strongest XI, get Mane and Salah back flying.”

Could Liverpool catch Manchester City?
In our view, Liverpool should not give up hope of catching City at the top of the Premier League table this season.
Yes, there is a considerable gap, but let us not forget that Liverpool have a game in hand.
And, in our opinion, City will drop points between now and the end of the season.
Now, of course, Liverpool cannot slip up and have to continue to win games.
But, we think that Klopp’s team can certainly still catch City.
