Everton’s scouts are currently in Italy looking at potential deals for a number of targets, one of whom has emerged as Napoli striker Duvan Zapata.

Director of football Steve Walsh is leading the Toffees’ search of the country, but it is scout Carlo Jacomuzzi who has admitted that Zapata is on the club’s radar – along with AC Milan forward Carlos Bacca.

“Bacca and Zapata have interesting profiles, but [a move] for one would exclude the other,” Jacomuzzi is reported to have said on Italian radio station, CRC, by the Daily Express.

“The €25m (£22m) that [Napoli president] Aurelio De Laurentiis asks for Zapata is too high, however, everyone has the right to ask for what they want.

“He could be an ideal player for the Premier League.”

Signed by Napoli in the summer of 2013, Zapata scored 15 goals in his first two seasons at the Stadio San Paolo before spending two years on loan at Udinese.

However, it was the 2016/17 campaign that really caught the eye, with the 26-year-old scoring 10 times in 38 Serie A outings.

This form saw Zapata earn his first senior cap for Colombia in March and he is now back in Naples ahead of the new term; although whether that is where he will stay remains to be seen.

Bacca, meanwhile, may be the more established option from his time at Sevilla and now Milan, but he is also four years senior to his fellow Colombian.
