Liverpool want to sign Calvin Ramsay and are likely to learn this week whether the Aberdeen talent will be joining or heading elsewhere.
The Reds have already secured a couple of signings with an eye towards the future.
Playmaker Fabio Carvalho has joined from Fulham whilst Liverpool have also brought in Celtic teenager Ben Doak.
Liverpool are still looking towards the Scottish market though and there could soon be another arrival in Ramsay.

It looks like Liverpool will be offloading right back Neco Williams this summer after his strong loan spell at Fulham.
That would leave Liverpool needing more cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold even if Joe Gomez and James Milner can fill in at right back.
The top target for Jurgen Klopp has been Aberdeen talent Ramsay.
The Scottish Mail on Sunday reported in May that Ramsay was on the verge of joining Liverpool for £4million.
That hasn’t quite happened yet but Klopp allegedly approved the signing of Ramsay very quickly.
Liverpool fans have been waiting for news on Ramsay and it now looks like a conclusion isn’t far away.
Football Scotland claim that Aberdeen will decide on Ramsay’s destination this week.
Liverpool are still favourites but Bologna, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on Ramsay.
Having put so much into this deal, Liverpool won’t want to see Ramsay slip away from them this late in the day.
Liverpool may now just be a matter of days away from securing Ramsay and that is certainly exciting for the future.
Ramsay, 18, played 33 first-team games for Aberdeen this past season and has been hailed as an ‘elite’ young talent by Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack.
That’s what Liverpool are looking for and they could now have two top Scots of the future in Doak and Ramsay.
