Liverpool winger Ryan Kent endured a miserable Bundesliga debut, while Naby Keita was sent off for RB Leipzig.
Given Jurgen Klopp’s background, it would hardly be a surprise if he keeps one eye on the Bundesliga results every single week – but perhaps he may want to avoid looking at this past weekend’s results as two of the players he looks set to have in his squad next season endured pretty miserable games for their respective sides.
Naby Keita is set to move to Anfield next summer, with The Telegraph reporting back in August that he had agreed a £48 million deal with the Reds.
While Keita had made an excellent start to the season with RB Leipzig, Saturday’s game against Borussia Monchengladbach took some of the shine off his recent form.
The 22-year-old contributed an assist but his game ended slightly early as he was sent off for a challenge incredibly similar to the one that saw Sadio Mane dismissed during Liverpool’s recent clash with Manchester City.
He was not the only Liverpool-owned player to endure a miserable afternoon at the weekend as Ryan Kent’s debut for Freiburg ended in extremely disappointing fashion.
Kent was a second-half substitute as Freiburg lost 4-0 to Bayer Leverkusen to leave them in the relegation play-off place. But at least, the defeat may lead to the 20-year-old earning more game-time if the manager decides to make a host of changes.
