Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has cooled talk of his side winning the Premier League title this year, suggesting that he is not interested in hearing the constant hype, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The Reds have begun their 2016/17 campaign in impressive fashion, and sit third in the Premier League table behind Manchester City and Arsenal, separated only by goal difference.

The German spoke to reporters ahead of his side’s fourth round EFL Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur, and fielded questions regarding his side’s title chances, as quoted by liverpoolfc.com:

“I don’t care. I don’t care. That’s normal in football that when you are in a good position that people starting talking a little bit more positive. I don’t recognise too much what everybody is saying about us, but of course I recognise the mood around LFC – it’s good, but we’re still in October unfortunately, there’s a long way to go so there is nothing to say about this. Hopefully you can ask these questions for the whole season because then everything is good, but I am not interested, that’s how it is. It’s good, until now – not more, but good. Let’s carry on.”

Klopp’s effect on the Reds first-team has been clear for all to see, and the entire team now seems to be on board with the former Borussia Dortmund man’s philosophies.

Although there is still more than three quarters of the season remaining, Liverpool fans will surely be expecting their team to mount a sustained challenge for Premier League glory, especially with their lack of any kind of European football this season.

A good cup run along the way will only help with the current mood surrounding Anfield, and could potentially lead to further success.
