Tottenham Hotspur are due to take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told the Liverpool Echo that he does not expect Tottenham Hotspur to play like a team low on confidence.

Spurs have struggled so far this season, and have recently suffered heavy defeats against Bayern Munich and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Tottenham did win 5-0 against Red Star Belgrade in midweek though.

And Klopp is still expecting a huge challenge from Spurs, even if they haven’t been at their best throughout the season so far.

“Spurs’ situation, I cannot judge,” Klopp said. “I have no idea. Football is like this. They have not forgot how to play football, Harry Kane, Son, Alli, Eriksen, you cannot understand it from outside but they can play a proper performance. We won CL final, it was respectful night.

“It’s a football game between two really good teams. We will not be that confident that nothing can happen to us. They will not play like a team with their points tally. They are a top side and we have to respect that.”

Tottenham are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table, but they drew their last league match 1-1 with Watford.

It has been a real struggle for Spurs over recent weeks, although their performance against Red Star did offer some encouragement that they were getting back to their best.

Liverpool go into the game having failed to beat Manchester United in their last domestic match, and their performance at Old Trafford was disappointing.

Klopp’s side will not want to see their lead at the top of the table cut by any more points this weekend, so Spurs will surely need to put one of their best performances of the campaign so far if they are to stand any chance of collecting the points at Anfield.
