Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has played down any alleged ill feeling between himself and Everton boss Ronald Koeman following another all action Merseyside derby at the weekend, which Liverpool won 3-1, as reported by FourFourTwo.

Koeman was less than happy after the match with a number of things, including bad challenges, and at one point borderline accused the Liverpool bench of impacting the referee’s decisions.

So much has been made of the events in the match, that Liverpool’s next fixture against Bournemouth has been somewhat overshadowed, as has Everton’s fixture with Manchester United.

Speaking ahead of the Bournemouth game however, Klopp took the sting out of the situation by claiming it was just passion and emotion overflowing, but he did take issue with the notion that it was his side doing nasty challenges, as well as identifying that opponents Bournemouth are also coming into this fixture on the back of a derby match.

“His mistake is to say both sides made bad challenges, I can’t remember one from our side,” Klopp said, as reported by FourFourTwo. “But it’s not a problem, we are emotional, not only myself. It’s not worth saying, it’s not too serious, it’s already done.

“My boys are emotional, [but] they never ask for something they are not sure about. It wasn’t a big issue during the game so we shouldn’t make it bigger than it actually was.

“Bournemouth also played a derby [at the weekend, against Southampton] and now they have to play at Anfield. That’s not the best thing I could imagine. We’ll fight for each point of these last 24 [available] for us.”

As the table currently stands, Liverpool are sitting in third place in the Premier League, and despite there being some fixtures on Tuesday evening, none of them effect Liverpool’s position in the table.

They have however, played another game more than the other top four occupants, and two more than Manchester United and Arsenal, both of whom are in hot pursuit of the Reds.
