Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal could be among the teams to close the gap on them next season, through his comments to ESPN.

Liverpool were confirmed as Premier League champions for the first ever time last week, with Jurgen Klopp’s side thoroughly dominating the league this term.

Klopp’s men are currently 23 points clear of their nearest rivals, and even further away from Tottenham and Arsenal.

But the Reds boss still thinks that Spurs and Arsenal should both be considered as contenders next year.

“There is a gap there and I don’t think there will ever be a similar gap, although we need to see how big it is at the end of the season,” Klopp said.

“It’s obvious City are an outstanding team, [Manchester] United are in outstanding shape and Chelsea are in really good shape and doing some interesting business so that’s clear.

“Tottenham will not sleep, Arsenal will not sleep, Leicester are there….lots of teams.”

Both Tottenham and Arsenal are expected to work on limited budgets this summer, which makes their task of improving enough to become title contenders very difficult.

Tottenham’s squad has shown signs of age this term, and appears to need freshening up.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have some promising youngsters but lack quality in a number of areas.

Spurs will move ahead of Arsenal if they avoid defeat against Sheffield United tonight, but they are currently a whopping 41 points behind Liverpool in the standings, which suggests Mourinho has a lot of work to do ahead of next campaign.
