Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested to The Mirror that there is a small chance that Joe Gomez could be back from injury this season.
Although Klopp has said that he does not expect Gomez will take to the pitch before the end of the season, he has not completely given up hope.
The German boss has also said that the 23-year-old central defender’s rehabilitation from injury is going well.
The England international made six starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League and played thrice in the Champions League for the Reds this season, according to WhoScored, before he suffered his injury.
The Telegraph has reported that Liverpool are planning to bring in a new centre-back before the January transfer window closes on Monday.
Klopp told The Mirror about Gomez: “Joe Gomez is actually in a pretty good place, but far away from being back. So he walks round looks completely normal, is not yet out on the pitch running, or even out of the gym, it was just a really tough injury as well.
“Will he be available this season? When does the season end, May? It will be close at least I would say, but I don’t ‘expect’.”

Staying positive
Gomez is a very good central defender who has progressed well over the years, and Liverpool fans should stay positive about seeing him back in action soon.
Meanwhile, The Athletic has reported that although Liverpool have closely monitored Torino central defender Gleison Bremer, the Reds have yet to make an official approach for him.
