The 21-year-old winger has been playing well for the Rams and has established himself as an important player in manager Frank Lampard’s team.
According to WhoScored, the Wales international has made 14 starts and two substitute appearances in the Championship for Derby so far this season, scoring seven goals and providing one assist in the process.
Liverpool manager Klopp has suggested that he could recall Wilson from his loan spell at Derby in the January transfer window, but only if he has to.
Klopp has also revealed that since he was appointed the Liverpool manager in October 2015 after the departure of Brendan Rodgers, who is now the manager of Celtic.
“I really think Harry left in the right moment,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Wilson. “Since I was in everybody told me Harry Wilson needed to go on loan.”
Klopp added: “If something happens in an offensive wing position, why should I say today, ‘100 per cent we will not do it’? That’s the only thing Derby had to accept in the moment they signed the contract.
“They have to wait until the last second and we can decide. But we don’t want to take him away. Only if we really need him would we trigger that option. Otherwise, he’s there in a fantastic team.”
Derby County stay
While Liverpool may need Wilson in the coming weeks if injuries occur, it would be best for the young winger if he stays at Derby until the end of the season.
After all, the Wales international is unlikely to play regularly for the Reds, and that could impede the fantastic progress that he is making at the moment.
