Liverpool have signed Arthur Melo and already have a potential permanent deal in place for next summer should the Brazilian impress.

The Reds usually don’t like doing business on deadline day, preferring to stay away from the drama and knee-jerk decisions.

Yet an injury to Jordan Henderson on the eve of deadline day meant Liverpool were pretty much forced into making a move.

Whilst other names were linked, Juventus ace Arthur Melo was the man Liverpool picked, arriving on loan until the end of the season.

Liverpool have signed Arthur

This was a surprise move for Liverpool, given that Arthur was viewed as expendable by Juventus.

The Brazilian was touted as a star of the future when he emerged with Gremio, with some picking him out as the heir to Xavi at Barcelona.

Arthur only lasted two years at Barcelona though before being sent to Juventus in a deal involving Miralem Pjanic.

Again though, Arthur hasn’t lived up to his billing and is again on the move after two years at a club.

Liverpool are now hoping to see some quality from Arthur, who was on the bench against Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Arthur could feature against Napoli in the Champions League this week and Liverpool have made plans in case he fulfils his potential and becomes a star at Anfield.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool have arranged a €37.5milliion (£32million) deal to sign Arthur permanently next summer.

That deal is just an option rather than a mandatory clause, and Liverpool have even sorted out a provisional contract with Arthur.

Everything is in place for Liverpool to striker a permanent deal for Arthur if they so wish, so the ball is now in the midfielder’s court.

Arthur seemingly has no future at Juventus but he could secure himself a future at Liverpool if he performs well.
