Arthur Melo was spotted with the Liverpool squad on Saturday evening but wasn’t named on the bench against Newcastle United.
Liverpool fans have barely seen Arthur kick a ball since his deadline day loan move from Juventus back in September.
The Reds were desperate for a midfield addition and decided to bring in Arthur despite him effectively being exiled by Juve.
Brought in to cover for injuries, Arthur of course picked up an injury himself because that’s the kind of luck Liverpool were having at the time.
That means Arthur has played just 13 minutes for the Reds and hasn’t even kicked a ball in the Premier League yet.
Rumours suggesting the 26-year-old would be sent back to Juventus in January amounted to nothing but fans are still waiting to see him in action.
That day may be drawing closer though as Arthur was actually spotted with the Liverpool squad on Saturday.
Liverpool posted a video of players leaving the team bus before facing Newcastle United and Arthur was shown at 32 seconds.
Arthur wasn’t named on the bench but he appears to be inching closer and closer to a return to action.
Liverpool need to have a look at Arthur before summer
Missing five months of the season means Arthur faces an uphill battle to earn a permanent stay at Anfield.
Liverpool do need to have a close look at the Brazilian though and gauge whether there could be a player in there.
Liverpool have a number of midfielders set to leave the club as things stand with Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all out of contract.
Milner seems like the only one who could earn another year, with Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain surely leaving.
It makes much more sense for Liverpool to give minutes to Arthur than to the likes of Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain at this point.
Staying at Liverpool seems unlikely but Arthur needs a chance before the season ends and it looks like he will be fit to feature soon enough.
