Liverpool went up against Benfica striker and Arsenal target Darwin Nunez on Tuesday night, with Michael Owen backing a Premier League transfer.
It’s no great surprise that big clubs around Europe are looking to swoop in and sign Nunez at the end of the season.
With 28 goals and three assists in 35 games for Benfica this season, Nunez has been a goalscoring sensation in Portugal.
At just 22, the Uruguayan ace looks like becoming one of the top strikers in the world if he continues on this trajectory.
Arsenal have shown a keen interest in signing Nunez, opening talks with his representatives according to a report from 90Min.
Melissa Reddy has also claimed that Liverpool have been looking at signing Nunez for a long time now, with last night’s game something of an audition.
Liverpool took a 2-0 lead against Benfica through Ibrahima Konate and Sadio Mane before Nunez had his big moment.
Benefiting from a Konate mistake, Nunez slotted past Alisson to get Benfica back into the game and proved to be a major threat.
Nunez couldn’t get a result for Benfica though, with Luis Diaz sealing a 3-1 victory for Liverpool.
Liverpool, Arsenal and many more will surely have been impressed with Nunez, who looks destined for a huge transfer in the coming months.

Pundit and former Liverpool striker Owen has now told BT Sport (05/04, 7pm) that he thinks Nunez is now Uruguay’s next great striker, following in the footsteps of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.
Owen added that he thinks Nunez could now make a big Premier League move having been very impressed with his ability.
“He looks like the next striker from Uruguay’s conveyor belt,” said Owen. “He’s going to give Liverpool problems. He could be the next one to join a Premier League club. He’s got plenty about him,” he added.
With Arsenal desperately needing a new striker, don’t be surprised if the Gunners offer huge money to bring Nunez to the Premier League.
