Liverpool fans aren’t happy about the rumours that are emerging about Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn.
The Scotland international, who has been taking part at Euro 2020 this summer, has seen his name linked with Liverpool.
The Sunday Post claimed that Liverpool are interested in raiding Aston Villa for the all-action midfielder, who has also been on Manchester United’s radar.
It was initially claimed that a £20 million price tag was over McGinn’s head, but it seems as though that’s not the case.
Now, The Athletic claim that those on Merseyside would have to pay £50 million for the Scotman’s talents, with Jurgen Klopp a big admirer of the player.
Liverpool fans don’t like what they’re hearing in regards to McGinn because they feel their club can push the boat out for other options and, most importantly, much better options.
In terms of style, there’s no doubt that McGinn’s aggressive nature, willingness to draw the opposition into constant ground duels and his non-stop pressing is what Klopp would want in his midfield.
But given that he’s not one of the top midfielders in the country, judging by the feeling from the Liverpool fans, then it seems they want their club to explore other options.
Given that Liverpool lost their Premier League title last season, and not forgetting the departure of Gini Wijnaldum, then it’s understandable that supporters would want a big-name to walk through their doors.
However, aside from a few in recent years, the Reds aren’t like their rivals at the Etihad where they splash the cash for fun.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to the McGinn rumours:
