Liverpool have today confirmed the departure of midfielder Marko Grujic, more than five years since he became Jurgen Klopp’s first signing at Anfield.
Grujic joined Liverpool from Red Star Belgrade back in January 2016, but only ever made 16 appearances for the club.
After loan spells at Red Star, Cardiff City, Hertha Berlin and Porto, Grujic is on the move permanently.
Liverpool have announced that the 25-year-old has joined Porto on a permanent basis, bringing an end to his time at Anfield – even if he barely spent time there.
Grujic’s move to Portugal was necessary for him to move forward, but now seemingly takes two potential swap deals off the table for Michael Edwards and co.
Sassuolo News recently reported that Liverpool want to sign Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi, and a swap involving Grujic heading to Italy was mooted.

O Jogo have also reported that Liverpool offered Grujic to PSV Eindhoven in a potential deal for striker Donyell Malen, but neither swap deal will now happen.
Maybe the cash from selling Grujic can help fund a move for either Berardi or Malen, with Liverpool clearly needing to sign another attacker.
For now though, the chances of them signing either player has been dented, with Grujic’s move to Porto now confirmed.
