Ajax defender Jurrien Timber claims that a summer transfer is getting closer amid interest from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Timber has been speaking to De Telegraaf about his future ahead of the summer transfer window.
The defender has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent times.
90Min reported in March that both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Timber.
Manchester United will be keen too with Timber’s former Ajax boss Erik ten hag currently in charge.
The expectation is that Timber will end up leaving Ajax this summer to make a big move – possibly to the Premier League.
Timber has now admitted that a transfer away from Ajax is ‘getting closer and closer’.
The defender wouldn’t name any of the clubs who are trying to sign him but does claim there is a ‘lot of concrete interest’.
Timber adds that he has an agreement with Ajax to leave this summer having committed to the club for one more year last summer.
“A transfer is getting closer and closer, so to speak,” said Timber. “There is a lot of concrete interest and I have made agreements with Ajax. Last year Ajax asked me to stay for at least one more season and to extend my contract. As a club boy I did that with love and after the season we will review the situation,” he added.

Liverpool and Tottenham will be positioning themselves for Jurrien Timber
This time comes for many Ajax players; they end up wanting to move on and progress beyond Dutch football.
The same went for Ryan Gravenberch, a player who left Ajax last summer and is also on Liverpool’s radar this summer.
Timber certainly seems ready for the next step after 116 first-team appearances for Ajax.
A centre back who is more than capable of playing as a right back, timber could be seen as a replacement for Joe Gomez whilst also offering competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Virgil van Dijk has even called Timber a ‘great player’ and believes he has ’so much potential’, so he would surely back a move to Anfield.
Tottenham will also be keen although their interest may hinge on whether they continue playing three at the back.
Timber would be ideal on the right side of a back three, possibly allowing Cristian Romero to play in the centre, which was his role with Atalanta.
Timber’s comments will have sparked interest at Liverpool and Spurs, with both clubs potentially planning offers for the Dutchman.
