Liverpool won against Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.
Liverpool and Southampton fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Virgil van Dijk on Sunday evening.
Van Dijk featured for Liverpool in the Premier League game against Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium.
The 26-year-old central defender started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the visiting team won 2-0 to enhance their chances of finishing in the top four of the league table this season.
The Netherlands international centre-back joined Liverpool from Southampton in the January transfer window for a fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £75 million.
The former Celtic star was booed throughout the match by the Southampton fans, but that did not affect the Liverpool defender.
The performance of Van Dijk was one of his best for Jurgen Klopp’s side so far, and Liverpool and Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to his display.
