While the Athletic have claimed that Mount has reached a breakthrough in his contract talks with the West London side, a confirmation is yet to be announced.
Furthermore, the Telegraph have reported that it would take a whopping £300,000-a-week in wages for the Champions League winner to continue his stay at Stamford Bridge.
With there seeming to be uncertainty around the England international’s future and displays, we believe he would benefit massively from a move to Liverpool.
Liverpool and Mount is a match made in heaven
Since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival at the club, he has preferred to employ a workmanlike midfield, especially one that included the likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Gini Wijnaldum.
However, the club have needed more creativity in midfield since Wijnaldum’s exit, which made Thiago’s addition a welcome one in the first place.
In Mason Mount, Liverpool would be signing a midfielder that combined both style and steel in one package.
Ever since the 23-year-old has started playing in the Premier League, his critics have often questioned why he remains a favourite amongst every manager for both club and country?
One of the reasons is the Englishman is a top presser and there is no questioning his workrate on any occasion.
Creatively as well, Mount can wreak havoc, with his keen eye for a pass and slick one-touch combinations with an attacking full-back on the flanks.
Unlike at Chelsea where Reece James and Ben Chilwell often get injured, Liverpool will allow him do so whilst combining with the excellent and more importantly, available full-back duo of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.
Last season, the talented midfielder also registered 10 league goals and 11 assists, a figure not any Reds midfielder in the middle of the park even came close to.
However, question marks remain over Mount’s creativity to this day, as he is not a natural No.10 in the vein of say, Phil Foden.
While that may be true, this feature is often a lot more evident at Stamford Bridge as the side lacks world-class attacking quality in general.
That simply isn’t the case in the red half of Merseyside, with the two enigmatic full-backs, alongside Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz well capable of creating a bucketload of goalscoring chances.
Mason Mount exemplifies balance in both boxes, a quality that is not just needed but would be a lot more appreciated at Liverpool than at Chelsea.
