Thierry Henry has used Liverpool and Arsenal as examples when talking about the Manchester United owners, the Glazers.
There is huge pressure on Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, in the backdrop of supporters, once again, voicing their displeasure towards the club’s ownership and wanting the Glazers to sell the club.
Once upon a time, Arsenal fans were calling for their own American ownership, the Kroenkes, to leave, as Thierry Henry stated ‘everyone was focusing on the ownership’, before Mikel Arteta came in, was backed and he is now the one in charge.
The legendary striker also used Liverpool as an example and how Jurgen Klopp was given ‘the keys’ to Anfield, and during that period, they have won the lot, as he hinted that’s what needs to happen at Manchester United if they want to change, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (20/09/23 at 7:30 pm).
Under yet another manager, there seems to be major issues at Old Trafford, not just on the field of play, but away from the pitch too.
That just results in Manchester United fans being more vocal towards the powers that be at the club, with Henry sharing what needs to happen, as he told an American TV audience during CBS’ Champions League coverage.

“What needs to happen is that you need to give the key to a coach, in order for him to be able to perform and show what he can do,” said Henry.
“It reminds me of what Arsenal were two and a half years ago. Where everyone was focusing on the ownership because the team wasn’t performing. Edu arrived, some other people arrived and they said ‘This is going to be our manager for a little while’. When you look at the results of Arsenal, at one point, Mikel Arteta, normally, in the way it was and the way football is, maybe he should have lost his job.
“But he didn’t. They gave him the key. He is aware of who is and isn’t coming. And now you can see a team that can perform.
“At one point, the boss there was Sir Alex, and nobody else. At Arsenal right now, it looks, from where I am standing, that the boss is Mikel Arteta. Everyone is either alongside with him or behind him. Not behind him. I think there is a power trip at Manchester United as to who is or isn’t going to be in charge.
“You have to give the key to the manager. Liverpool did it with Klopp. Manchester City, we all know, did it with Pep. And, right now, Arsenal are doing it with Arteta. That’s what is missing. You have to trust the manager.”

Arsenal and Manchester United had very differing nights in the Champions League yesterday, with the Gunners scoring four against PSV and their old rivals shipping that same amount at Bayern Munich.
The mood and feeling at both clubs, regarding the Champions League, is very different, with a lot more belief in the Arsenal camp.
With the London club flying out from the blocks with a win over PSV, you would think they would progress to the knockout stages during these coming months, but it’s a different story for those at Old Trafford, who probably fear that they will drop into the Europa League again.
